Black girls deserve to be heard,

to be seen,

to be allowed to chase every single last one of their dreams.

Black girls deserve to live with joy unconfined,

to love without boundary,

and to color outside of the lines.

Black girls deserve to be treated like the magic they are.

Black girls deserve the option to wish upon every single star.

Black girls deserve attention for what's in their minds,

not for their bodies,

nor what diamonds lie between their thighs.

Black girls deserve not to be labeled as difficult, angry,

with bad attitudes and sass.

Black girls deserve to have full childhoods,

instead of being sexualized and identified as fast.

Black girls deserve to be loved back,

all the way through,

unapologetically for who they are,

and their uncompromised truths.

Black girls deserve to be listened to,

instead of walked over, pushed up on, silenced,

and treated as if they were invisible in plain view.

Black girls deserve to just be,

instead of having to comply to carrying everyone else through the struggle,

while neglecting their own needs.

Black girls deserve to be protected,

without needing a reason,

regardless of the cost.

Black girls deserve to be shown how valuable they are,

before their innocent lights are lost.

Black girls deserve their flowers,

and to be showered with praise,

especially on those weary nights,

and the less than sunny days.

Black girls deserve to know that they are gardens,

Earth's special healing space that compliments the sky.

Black girls deserve to know their lives matter BEFORE they die.

Black girls deserve not to be forgotten,

in the midst of frightening times.

Black girls deserve to have their names SAID

in this modern day revolution that is televised.

Black girls deserve better

because Black girls deserve to grow into Black women

with abundantly full and long lives.
